Powder coating has become a very popular process for paint application. Utility Metals' powder provides a durable finished product. Product life is extended with our powder by providing excellent color retention, chemical and abrasion resistance, chip and scratch resistant, and overall weatherability. Coatings are consistent, environmentally safe, and withstand the effects of ultraviolet rays.

Standard colors are readily available. Products finished with these standard colors normally have a short delivery time. At an additional charge, other colors and textures are available or we can match your color chip. Special finishes will require longer product delivery times. For your convenience, our Powder Coating Color Selector is provided for you here. Note: Due to the printing process, color chart may vary slightly from the actual powder coat. Powder coat sample chips available upon request.

Surface Preparation: After fabrication, all products are blasted to a SP6 or better surface finish to remove all dirt, mill scale, oxides, and other foreign matter. Each pole is then visually inspected. Blasting is performed with abrasive conforming to SAE Shot Number S230 in a fully integrated recycling 15 HP eight wheel system.

Powder Coating: Surfaces are coated with a TGIC or urethane powder to a minimum dry film thickness per powder manufacturer's recommendations. The coating is electrostatically applied and cured in a gas-fired convection oven by heating the steel substrate to the powder manufacturer's specifications.

Utility Metals' various stock and custom finishes are held to industry standards for steel and aluminum. These finishes include:

  • Hot Dip Galvanize

  • Basic Red Primer: This primer allows for field applied coatings.

  • Acrylic Enamel Paint

  • Paint over Hot Dip Galvanize: Before painting over galvanizing, the surface is prepared by the use of Green Wash Primer.

  • Powdercoat over Hot Dip Galvanize: Before powder coating over hot dip galvanize, the surface is prepared by Brush Off Blasting to SSPC-SP7 surface profile.

Following are the abbreviations you can use when ordering products using our standard acrylic enamel/powdercoat colors:

  • BK = Black
  • LG = Light Gray
  • DG = Dark Gray
  • WH = White
  • GR = Green
  • LB = Light Bronze
  • DB = Dark Bronze
  • NA = Natural Aluminum

Note: These are our standard colors. If you want a specific shade of a color, you must provide us with the color chip or the specific manufacturer and color specification.
